Why Mineral Wool?

Mineral wool contains a minimum of 70% recycled content, and it’s non-combustible, inorganic and mold-resistant. Thermafiber® from Owens Corning is the #1 specified brand of commercial mineral wool.* Mineral wool insulation resists fire and temperatures in excess of 2,000˚F while also providing sound control and energy conservation.

As a semi-rigid product that is easy to cut and install, its flexibility allows it to conform to building shapes and construction irregularities. With 70% minimum recycled content, Thermafiber® contributes to LEED® building programs. Additionally, it resists mold and fungi and is vermin-proof due to its inorganic material.

  • Non-Combustible

Resists fire and temperatures in excess of 2,000˚F while also providing sound control and energy conservation.

  • Mold-Resistant

Resists mold, fungi, and is vermin proof due to its being an inorganic material.

  • Water-Resistance

Allows the vapor barrier to perform without creating additional traps for moisture in the wall cavity.
